Walter B. Jones to Present 'Campus Defender'
Award; Major Announcement to Be Made!

Congressman Walter B. Jones To Present 'Campus Defender' Award

Former Supreme Court Candidate Rachel Lea Hunter To Accept Award, Make Major Announcement

Cary, NC. - Congressman Walter B. Jones, representative of the Third Congressional District in eastern North Carolina and a strong defender of first amendment rights on college campuses, will present the first annual 'Walter B. Jones Campus Defender' award on Wednesday December 1st at Duke University. The award will be given annually by the Duke College Republicans, who last month named the award in honor of Jones. The event is currently scheduled to take place in Room 111 of the Biological Sciences Building and is open to the public.

The first recipient of the award will be Rachel Lea Hunter, an attorney in Durham who has worked on behalf of numerous college students in cases involving free speech rights. She also helped organize the first ever College Abuse Forum, held in Durham this past May.

"I am truly honored to be the recipient of the Walter B. Jones Campus Defender Award." Congressman Walter Jones is a true asset to liberty lovers in eastern North Carolina and to college students throughout the state and nation," stated Hunter.

Rachel Lea Hunter plans to make a major announcement as it relates to her political future.

"I can say now that I will stay as active as ever touring colleges and promoting the issue of free speech. We must ensure that our conservative and libertarian students receive equal treatment of that given to their liberal counterparts. All students must have their free speech rights protected," exclaimed Hunter.

Hunter's announcement will encompass a variety of issues related to the political landscape in North Carolina. Plans are in the works for major initiatives to be undertaken that will promote liberty, honesty and integrity in North Carolina politics.

"It is time for positive change in this state," said Hunter. "My plans for the future will change 'politics as usual' and will ensure good leadership for everyone in North Carolina."
