UPDATED -- see conversation with RLH below
The meltdown of the Rachel Lea Hunter campaign raises a question: where
is
Rachel Lea Hunter?
Her husband, Connie Mack Berry Jr., has said on this site that Hunter
is
ill. Berry is the one doing all the talking these days (see comments in
this
thread).
Hunter's strange story -- a recent transplant to NC who ran for high
office,
she tried to get listed on the ballot as "Madame Justice," and switched
from
Vernon-Robinson-supporting-Republican to VR-bashing Dem in short order
--
has gotten stranger, and maybe sadder, too.
Connie Mack Berry Jr seems to be running the show, and he's running it
right
into the ground. Where is Rachel Lea Hunter?
UPDATE
I spoke to Rachel Lea Hunter by phone from her office in Durham.
She says she writes the statements at her website, but that the Dean
Smith
thing "was a misunderstanding, I don't know how that got there, I
didn't
write it. People hack into a lot of things."
When I asked about the same verbiage being used in her emails, and the
defense of the original statements by Connie Mack Berry Jr, she said
she did
not know what to make of that.
I asked about Berry's comments on various blogs. She said she had not
read
them all, and had not read any for 10 days. "He is just an advisor" to
the
campaign, she said.
She defended her comparison of Vernon Robinson to a slave on a
plantation,
saying that Hillary Clinton had called Congress a "plantation." I asked
if
it was not a little different to compare a black man to a slave, she
did not
see it that way.
She confirmed that her tumor has returned, and said that after an MRI
and
consultation in July she will decide on treatment, which may involve
surgery
or radiation. She said does not expect the treatment to have an impact
on
her campaign, although she did say surgery could leave her face
paralyzed.

Please email me her phone number and I will call at once, thanks.

Sure will Ed! We will put you in line for the confirmed missing report
with
the rest of the media. By the way! You are required to send a get well
card
to her about her recent battle with her outgoing tumor and a donation
to her
support group. Can I depend on it? Of course if you cannot make this
effort
like GOP leader Ferrel l and Mr Meek. I will understand. Oh When do you
go
on the Brad and Britt show and talk about missing political bloggers?
Did I
miss it already.

Thanks for the updated report Ed. I did move you up the line. I do feel
better that you found her and don't have to file a missing report with
the
Greensboro police.

What a sad situation. This woman is obviously suffering and should not
be in
the public eye right now, let alone a candidate for office. I feel for
her
family and I hope that she gets the help she needs soon.

Right Britt! Have you suggested that for Anne Coulter? And since when
have
you become a mental health expert? Surely some of the listeners can
make the
same judgement about a talk show host after they interview them?
