GOP Leadership Criticizes Homeschool
And Private School Families
Dear Friends and Voters:
Election day is virtually upon us. For those of you who have already voted and chosen to vote for me, I thank you. This is for you who are undecided, for you who are not devoted to a single issue, for you who are not fanatics on the right or the left, for those of you who are independent and unaffiliated voters, for conservative or moderate Democrats or Republicans who are fed up with the current Republican Party leadership.
We have been through a struggle in this campaign. For those who have been following this soap opera, you will know that I have been ruthlessly attacked by members of the Republican Party leadership and its willing accomplices who have done their bidding. This was to be a non-partisan race and yet the party has intervened and party politics have been worse than ever. to the Republican Party leadership that you are disgusted by this type of behavior.
We have seen that despite my request, the Republican Party leadership has chosen to endorse one particular candidate over several others. However, we have learned that this very same endorsed candidate is under investigation for violating the Hatch Act. to the Republican Party leadership that you do not accept someone on our state Supreme Court who cannot follow the law.
This same Republican Party leadership has been engaged in a coverup of their actions while at the same soliciting endorsements for another "back-up" candidate. This other choice, while a registered Republican in name, does not espouse true Republican principles. This other candidate has accepted public financing for this election. This other candidate is seeking support from the educational establishment by buying them off with millions of your hard-earned tax dollars. This other candidate has no appellate experience at all. to the Republican Party leadership that you do not accept their continued ill-founded choices and decisions.
We have learned that the Republican Party leadership has overstepped its bounds repeatedly by meddling in the primaries to ensure that its "chosen" candidates are elected and that the others are defeated. This same Republican Party leadership consistently chooses candidates in various races who are unqualified, candidates that they can control, or candidates who have no chance of winning, thereby guaranteeing that a seat will be held by a Democrat, even when that incumbent is one of the most corrupt members of Congress. to the Republican Party leadership that you are tired of them playing party politics and favorites in this manner.
We have seen that the Republican Party leadership has sought to run a "Republican Judicial Team." Not a single member of this judicial team has ever said, "this conduct is wrong and no judicial candidate should have to endure it." Not a single member of this team has upheld the law and the rules by littering our state highways with their signs. Not a single member of this team has adhered to the Republican principles on which I stand by rejecting public financing. Some of these same individuals have loudly proclaimed their "conservative" stance, thereby transforming themselves into judicial activists. to them and to the Republican Party leadership that we want judges who truly will uphold the law, that we want judges who will not be activists of any kind, and that we want judges who will not seek to enforce their personal views and morals on us.
In my campaign throughout this state, I have spoken with various young men and women at our college campuses. I appreciate and thank them for that opportunity. These young men and women have hopes and dreams. They have creative energy. They are voters too. And most importantly, they should be nurtured and developed because they are the leaders of tomorrow; our future rests with them.
How have they been treated by our Republican Party leadership? What I have learned is truly appalling. One young man leads one of the most active groups of young college Republicans in this state. The thanks for his efforts was a dishonored check for $200.00 that has caused him to incur bounced check fees and other charges. The Republican Party leadership also has thanked him by voting him off their council because he has complained and because he has dared to endorse me. Another young man has been repeatedly threatened and intimidated by the Republican Party leadership and their minions merely because of his brave stance and efforts on my behalf. I am very proud of both young men. I am grateful for their support and hope that I have inspired them to fight back. But you, the voter, must to the Republican Party leadership that we will not stand to have our dedicated young college students treated this way.
In this particular judicial race, you the voter, have the opportunity to make a real decision. You do not have to vote for the same old recycled candidates that have run a race and lost, only to be reappointed because they are pals with the governor, congressman or a state legislator. You do not have to vote for a candidate who goes on a destructive rampage after losing an election and who touts integrity, but has failed to display it. You do not have to vote for a candidate who is so lacking in intellect or rudimentary common sense that he cannot ascertain and follow the law.
You can vote for someone who truly can't be bought, threatened or intimated. You can vote for someone who has experience in a wide range of issues and areas of the law. You can vote for someone who has worked in the appellate system for many years. You can vote for someone who can correctly interpret and apply the law. You can vote for someone who is not a judicial activist, someone who has no agenda. You can vote for someone who has been supporting our college students and professors. You can vote for me and by doing so, you will loud and clear to the Republican Party leadership.
Thank you for all of your support!
Very best wishes,
Rachel Lea Hunter
