GOOD FOR YOU!!! Your right. It has become a Fascist Environment, and you look up all the characteristics of Fascism, well, it is difficult not to see the simularities between the Bush GOP, and past Fascist governments.
And any critical remarks I would ignore like water off a duck because they are going to come from the "true" believers, who, are the core ideological element of any facist party.
My experience of highly "religious" groups, is that they are facist my nature. Mix that now with politics, and you can see why now seperation of church and state is sooooooo important. Religon is very ideological, and often does not encourage any self examination or self criticism. We can see how the Roman Catholic church has responded to the priest sexual abuses scandel. They do nothing to minimize the victims, because ideologically, they can not accept any thought of being at fault. So, as the Religious right progressive takes over the Republican party, this attitude, philosophy, and political slant is going to get much more pronounced in time.
And Moralistic fascist leaders, President of the United States, o Pastor of a Church, or leader of the campus Bible club, always respond to critisim by turning it back on the person as a sign of lack of faith, belief, or issue of loyality, rather than responding to the issue.
Good luck and congrulations on your decision. You will be better off in the end.

Dear Dave:
Thank you for your support. You are right about religion and fascism. You are right about the critics too. Fortunately, there are many who agree. And they outnumber the nay-sayers. Let's hope they vote in the next election cycle!
Best wishes,
Rachel
