SHOULD JUSTICE MARTIN BE SWEEPING
THE STREETS AND CHANGE POT SUPPLIERS?

13 Sep 2006

Re: "Justice" Martin Slings Republican Mud

Five years is not justice denied!?!? What the heck is this guy smoking???

That is enough right there to disqualify the man from being a justice.

Perhaps street sweeping might be a more honorable occupation for him!

Bill

Dear Bill,

That was my thought in reading the cases. But others reached the same conclusion and this criticism can be leveled at them as well. How could a majority of the judges reach the conclusion that waiting 6 years in jail for a trial transcript or 4 ½ years for a disposition is not a violation of one's right to a speedy trial? How can they ignore what seems to be clear in our constitution (about retroactive taxation)?

I am not willing to suggest that Justice Martin sweep the streets, but I do question whether this kind of mentality is what we need in our justice system. We have forgotten that the courts are supposed to be places of justice. When the judicial system collapses and you do not respect property rights or other civil rights, tyranny and oppression is what you get and the reprisal, when it comes, will be terrible. It is my hope that we can turn things around before we reach that point.

Keep up the articles about the Duke case!

Best wishes,

Rachel
